BYD has proudly celebrated producing its one millionth DOLPHIN SURF, marking a huge achievement in the compact electric vehicle market. This milestone highlights the model’s record as the fastest-selling A00-segment EV in history, reaching this figure just 27 months after its launch at BYD’s Xi’an plant in China.
Known by different names worldwide — the SEAGULL in China and DOLPHIN MINI in Latin America — the DOLPHIN SURF has earned global acclaim for its blend of practicality, technology, and sustainability.
BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li praised the model as “a global superstar breaking down barriers to sustainable mobility.” She added,
“Whether called SEAGULL, DOLPHIN MINI, or DOLPHIN SURF, its winning formula is simple: an affordable zero-emission vehicle designed for everyday city life and beyond, packed with BYD’s cutting-edge technologies.”
Compact Size, Big Impact
Designed specifically for urban environments, the DOLPHIN SURF is just under four metres long but offers surprisingly spacious interiors and boot capacity thanks to BYD’s innovative e-Platform 3.0 chassis.
Performance and Features for the European Market
In Europe, the DOLPHIN SURF comes in three trims — Active, Boost, and Comfort — with battery capacities ranging from 30kWh to 43.2kWh and motor outputs up to 115kW. The top Boost trim can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9.1 seconds.
The WLTP combined driving range reaches up to 322km, while city driving can extend to 502km on the Boost model.
